Reasons to read HHhH

ā€œHHhHā€ is the debut novel of the French writer Laurent Binet, which won him the prestigious ā€˜Prix Goncourt du premier roman’ in 2010. The title refers to the first letters of the German sentence ā€œHimmlers Hirn heißt Heydrichā€, meaning “Himmler’s brain is called Heydrich”, a pun in SS circles underlining Heydrich’s central role within the Nazi regime. Fans of this novel might also try Jiri Weil’s novel ā€œMendelssohn is on the Roofā€.
