Drago Jančar is one of Slovenia’s most celebrated contemporary writers. With his best-selling novel “I Saw her That Night”, he won the Kresnik Award for best Slovenian novel of the year and the French ‘Prix du Meilleur livre étranger’ in 2011. Jancar won the Kresnik Award twice more: in 1999 for “Ringing in the Head” and in 2001 for “Catherine, the Peacock, and the Jesuit”. Drago Jančar was also awarded the Herder Prize for literature in 2003 and the European Prize for Literature in 2011.
