“South from Granada” is an autobiographical work of the British writer Gerald Brenan, recounting his seven years spent in the village of Yegen in the Alpujarra mountains, south from Granada, before the Spanish Civil War. Brenan describes his personal experiences, the lives and customs of the local people, and the visits of fellow British artists, including Virginia Woolf and Dora Carrington.

Gerald Brenan also wrote the non-fiction book “The Spanish Labyrinth”, in which he outlines the social and political background to the Spanish Civil War.
