Summary of The Great Chimera

 

“The Great Chimera” tells the story of a young woman from Rouen who falls in love with a Greek shipowner and relocates with him to the Greek island of Syros, one of the Cyclades in the Aegean Sea. On the island, she becomes captivated by the beauty of her surroundings, the vibrant modern Greek culture, and ultimately by her younger brother-in-law. Her life takes a turn when her husband’s shipping business collapses, shattering the comfort she once knew.
