“The Last Goddess” is a best-selling novel about traditional healers (‘witches’) in the Czech countryside and their persecution over the centuries. Kateřina Tučková received the Czech State Award for Literature in 2022 for her novel “Bílá Voda” (“White Water”) and for her entire body of work. She received the Readers’ Magnesia Litera award in 2010 for her novel “Gerta” and again in 2013 for her novel “The Last Goddess”. “The Last Goddess” also won the Josef Škvorecký Literature Award in 2012, and the Czech Book Reader’s Award in 2013.
