Summary of Trieste
“Trieste” tells the story of Haya, an elderly woman living near the Italian-Slovenian border, who looks forward to reuniting with her son. The father of her son was an SS officer, and the boy was taken from her and raised in Germany. While part of the novel delves into what happened to the boy, the main focus is on the fate of the Italian Jews imprisoned at the San Sabba concentration camp near Trieste.
