Summary of Trinity
“Trinity” tells the epic story of three Irish families – and, in many ways, of Ireland itself – from the potato famine of the 1840s to the Easter Rising of 1916. The novel centres on Conor Larkin, a Catholic farm boy and blacksmith from Derry in present-day Northern Ireland, who falls in love with a Protestant girl, and becomes involved in the struggle for Irish home rule. The other key families in the novel are the Hubbles, wealthy British landowners who exploit the land and its people, and the MacLeods, Protestant shipyard workers from Belfast.
Reasons to read Trinity
“Trinity” is a gripping family saga that paints a vivid picture of Irish history, from the 19th century to the Easter Rising. The novel became a major bestseller in the late 1970s. Leon Uris, an American author of historical adventure and romance novels, penned several international blockbusters, including “Exodus”, “Mila 18”, and “QB VII”. In 1995, a sequel to “Trinity” was published, titled “Redemption”.
